Wanted: Old School VCR

So, I’m in need of what is appearing to be a rather difficult item to find:

A Mitsubishi HS-U770 VHS VCR.

I’ve found a couple on eBay, but they all seem to be busted (exhibiting the exact same mechanical failure that my old U770 did, in fact).  If anybody out there on the Internets has one that is working that they don’t need, or can manage to track one down, it would be much appreciated.

Tracking this puppy down is one of the last steps before I can finalize the content for the “Student Films” section of Flicker Shows here at SkinMech, and if  you want to see some real-life working filmmakers (directors whose films you may know!  Excitement!) acting completely ridiculous in some short films made over 10 years ago, then the Student Films section will be for you.

A quick preview of the content to come?

“Breaking & Entering”

“No Content”

“Life Fast, Die Young: The Larry Burnstein Story”

“An Experiment in Sleep Deprivation”

“Lucky Pierre”

and a not-so-coincidentally entitled “Skin Mechanic”

Yes folks.  All of this exciting content will be yours.  All that’s standing between it and you is a VCR that first went into production sometime around 1995.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Why that particular VCR?  Last time I saw these was projected on the wall of my parent’s house circa 1996-ish?  I still have a VCR HOOKED UP so that I may watch classics like THE DORM THAT DRIPPED BLOOD.

I want to try to get that particular one because there was something funky about the way I recorded the audio tracks (dubbed to the HiFi only vs. the linear tracks; I honestly can’t remember) so I’m hoping to find a deck that can isolate out the different types of audio tracks (the U770 did).

The Precious 290 Soundtracks VHS had been lost in the Bundy HellPit for the last 5 plus years, but the very first box of tapes I opened upon unpacking in the new digs: Boom.  Right there on top.  Couldn’t even tell you what section of the old apartment that box had been packed from, but there was The Precious.

In the interest of SAVING CASH (if I’m gonna pay any $$, I’d rather it be on a nice transfer of the Super-8 than on a VCR) I may just start sticking the tape in various VCR’s to see if it works…  Your deck’s in good conidition and blah-blah-blah, I take it?

Yep.  We moved so quick that the normal “throwing out of old stuff” did not happen like it should have.  That said, I sent Pete like 50 Green Angel CDs to take on tour with his new band.  And the books, you would not believe the books.  Anyway, yeah, my VCR works, it was the cheapest one they had, so not sure if it will make it happen, we also have so VCRs here at DD that might be an option if mine doesn’t do the trick.
